Liturgical Program

Students participate in the liturgy on Tuesday afternoons at 1:35 p.m in St. George Church. Parents are invited to attend and share this liturgy with the students. Holy day Masses within the week replace the weekly Tuesday afternoon Liturgy. Students have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Penance throughout the year. In addition to the formal classroom instruction that teaches students the fundamental principles of our faith, the religion program allows the students to participate in various liturgical experiences which help them grow spiritually: Annual retreats for the second and eighth grade, Mary's Day celebration, SCHOLA, Children's Choir, and Altar Servers.

Science Fair

Students in 5th-grade design science projects to display at school and compete on the Diocesan level. Our middle school students participate in PJAS.

Patrols

Patrols are responsible for helping students cross in crosswalks, open doors, supervising hallways, and assisting the teachers on bus duty. Patrols are on duty for one-half hour in the morning and afternoon. Patrols are assigned their role for one-month intervals. Seventh and eighth-grade students may be assigned A.M. Patrols or P.M. Patrols.

Alter Servers

Altar servers take an active role in service at the Altar of the Lord. They assist the Priest on the altar with reverence, faithfulness, and love, to help make the Sacrifice of the Mass meaningful and faith-enhancing for the parish community. This ministry helps to develop a sense of participation in parish life and a love for the church's liturgical life while growing closer to God in one's own life. It also offers an opportunity to understand the rewards of service toward others and their community. Contact the Church office if interested in becoming an altar server.

Drug & Alcohol Awareness and Prevention

The Saint George School provides age-appropriate instruction in drug and alcohol awareness and prevention through the Erie Diocesan Resource.

Yearbook

The Saint George School yearbook staff is an activity developed to create and design the yearbook. Students in the yearbook club work to improve their skills and then apply them to the yearbook. They are responsible for taking selecting pictures throughout the year, designing the cover, and assisting with the promotion, sale, and distribution of the yearbook.

Ski Club

The Saint George School Ski Club gives students an opportunity to ski with fellow students in a safe, organized environment. Contact us for more information.

Children’s Choir

The Saint George School Children's Choir is a beautiful ministry that brings our faith alive with the music of your children's voices. The children’s choir has always been such a highlight to parishioners both young and mature and is woven into the rich tradition of Saint George School. Rehearsals and performances of fine music literature form the foundation of instruction. The Choir provides the youth of Saint George opportunities for artistic and personal growth through choral music performance. If you would like to join the Choir, please contact the Church office.

Scouting

Scouting has a long and rich tradition at Saint George School and Church. There are many different scouting programs held each week for boys and girls. Scouting promotes character and values for its members. All meetings are set up and scheduled by each leader where the times and days will vary.

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls—all-girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Girl Scouting is for every girl, everywhere—where today's girls can become tomorrow's leaders. Membership in Girl Scouts is open to girls ages 5-17; women and men over 17 can join as adult members. Most girls join a local troop or group for fun and friendship, but they also find out about building character and self-esteem and serving their communities—the core qualities of Girl Scouting. In Girl Scouts, girls find a safe place to grow and share new experiences, learn to relate to others, develop values, and contribute to society.

Boy Scouts

Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America have helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the BSA's three traditional membership divisions. (The others are Boy Scouting and Venturing.)

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys age 11 - 17. Boys who are 10 may join if they have received the Arrow of Light Award or have finished the fifth grade. Boy Scouting is a program of fun outdoor activities, peer group leadership opportunities, and personal exploration of career, hobby, and special interests, all designed to achieve the BSA's objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness, and good citizenship.
